Scunthorpe striker Tom Hopper is expected to be out of action for four to five months after undergoing surgery on a dislocated shoulder.
Hopper suffered the injury in the second half of the Iron's 2-0 win against Barnsley last weekend having earlier scored his first goal since he returned to the club on a permanent basis.
Manager Mark Robins told the club's official website: "Tom had surgery to correct the damage on his shoulder on Wednesday.
"He had been playing really well over the last month and the goal at the weekend gave him a real boost. I'm sure he'd have gone on and scored even more.
"We wish Tom a speedy recovery."
