Boro on the charge

Nottingham Forest 1-2 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough claimed a fourth consecutive victory with goals from Matt Mills and Daniel Ayala. However, Aitor Karanka had goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopoulos to thank after the shot-stopper pulled off a string of fine saves, including a penalty from Henri Lansbury.

The result means Boro are second in the Championship, three points off leaders Brighton.

HOLLOWAY'S VERDICT: Boro have a great manager in charge - and a really nice guy too. His coaching is well thought out, his signings have been incredible - David Nugent and Stewart Downing especially. They have made a statement by having their own strikers now, instead of borrowing Patrick Bamford. They are only going to get stronger. Well done to them all for getting over their play-off disappointment. I don't believe anyone will run away with it because the standard is that high, but Boro will be up there without a shadow of a doubt.

Wolves 0-0 Brighton

In-form Brighton striker Tomer Hemed wasted a golden chance to strengthen his side's position at the top of the Championship after he missed a first-half penalty in a 0-0 draw against 10-man Wolves at Molineux. Hemed had scored five times in seven games prior to kick-off but couldn't find the net from 12 yards.

Despite Wolves playing the final 41 minutes without dismissed Conor Coady, Albion couldn't find a way through and saw their lead at the top of the table cut to three by Boro.

HOLLOWAY'S VERDICT: Brighton will be happy with that result. I am not sure why people are surprised by Brighton's form. I think Chris Hughton was badly treated by Newcastle. He is an excellent manager who really knows his stuff. They are going under the radar, but not under mine. A draw at Wolves is good - and Brighton will only get better. LuaLua is looking bang in form and is getting an end product. Wolves are a club that has come back from the dead under Kenny Jackett, so this is a great result for Brighton.

What's different at Reading?

Bristol City 0-2 Reading

Reading cruised to a comfortable win at Bristol City after Nick Blackman and Garath McCleary found the net inside the opening 15 minutes.

Defeat leaves last season's League One winners City second from bottom, while Reading are in the top six after bouncing back from their midweek loss at home to Derby.

HOLLOWAY'S VERDICT: It was a real statement from the manager Steve Clarke to force the Reading chairman to make the signings he did on deadline day. Bringing in Matej Vydra and making four signings was a real statement of intent. The quality they have got tells the rest that they are going for this. Nick Blackman has been around the club for a couple of years, and he got another at the weekend to show just how potent the strike-force is. My teams all scored plenty of goals, and that is what you need to succeed at this level.

Westley's Peterborough challenge

Graham Westley has been named the new Peterborough boss

League One Peterborough have named Graham Westley as their new manager following the sacking of Dave Robertson earlier this month. Westley, formerly the Preston and Stevenage boss, watched Posh's 1-1 draw at home to Walsall on Saturday and now takes the reins with the team 18th in League One.

HOLLOWAY'S VERDICT: Graham just needs to go there and be himself. He is a great motivator and that is what is needed around the club right now. I am sure he'll work well with the coaching staff. The chairman has said that the players have not been earning their money, but Graham will go there and work them so hard there won't be anywhere to hide. They still have great potential as a football club. It is not a good policy to sell your best players, and they have to change that.

Highlights from Bradford's 2-2 draw with Sheffield United in Sky Bet League One

Bradford City 2-2 Sheffield United

Billy Sharp scored a 70th-minute equaliser as Sheffield United came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Bradford City. That was the fifth goal of the season for the Blades frontman.

HOLLOWAY'S VERDICT: Billy is an out-and-out goalscorer and a wonderful guy. Every time my teams played against him he scored, and I always wanted to get my hands on him. He looks so honest and hard working. When he plays it is not about him, it is about his team, as his work showed at Bradford. The Blades are a massive club, and with Sharp leading the line they could be heading right back up.
