Ten-man Mansfield overturned a two-goal half-time deficit to secure a 2-2 draw with Newport at Rodney Parade.
The Exiles took the lead after seven minutes when Joss Labadie connected with Ryan Haynes' cross to find the back of the net.
Padraig Amond put Newport further ahead with a penalty in the 34th minute after Jamille Matt was brought down in the box to give the hosts a 2-0 lead at the interval.
Mansfield scored two goals in the space of two minutes in the early stages of the second half.
Substitute Kellan Gordon's free-kick was headed into the back of the net by captain Krystian Pearce after 47 minutes.
A dire mistake from Newport goalkeeper Tom King then allowed Danny Rose's weak shot to trickle in to level the scores.
King made amends when he saved a penalty from Nicky Maynard after Robbie Willmott brought Jacob Mellis down in the box.
But Mellis received a red card in the 68th minute due to a stamp on Labadie.
Newport pushed hard for the winner with a late goal from Amond disallowed for offside.
