Morecambe 2-2 Crewe: Last-gasp Chris Porter penalty earns point for Alexandra
Saturday 5 January 2019 17:36, UK
A stoppage-time Chris Porter penalty gave Crewe a share of the spoils in an exciting 2-2 encounter at Morecambe.
The striker kept his cool to score after Zak Mills had pushed him in the back three minutes into added time to gift Dave Artell's side a point.
Crewe took the lead in 27th minute through James Jones. The ball bounced around the edge of the Morecambe area before the midfielder tried his luck with a effort, which took a wicked deflection past Mark Halstead.
Kevin Ellison went close to levelling the scores after his chip over Crewe goalkeeper Ben Garrett looked destined to hit the back of the net until George Ray produced a superb goal-line clearance to deny the 39-year-old.
Jones then had a chance to double Crewe's lead in 39th minute when he blazed over from close range after Halstead parried a Jordan Bowery cross into his path.

The home side dominated the second period and grabbed a deserved equaliser in the 63th minute with a stunning free-kick from Andrew Tutte.
The midfielder stepped up from 20 yards to clip the ball over the wall and into the top right corner of Garratt's goal.
The home fans were celebrating once again as veteran Ellison fired Morecambe into the lead for the first time with just six minutes left.
The striker received the ball on the right side of the area and volleyed superbly past Garratt as Morecambe looked on course for all three points.
But there was late drama as Mills was punished for a push and Porter took full advantage to send Halstead the wrong way from the penalty spot and snatch a share of the spoils.
