Lorient picked up their first points of the new Ligue 1 season after recovering from a goal down to defeat Nantes 2-1 at Stade Du Moustoir. Newly-promoted Nantes defeated Bastia 2-0 in their opening match and were on course for another successful outing after taking a 17th-minute lead through Olivier Veigneau. However, they were left empty-handed as Lorient drew level before the break thanks to Vincent Aboubakar and then snatched a 61st-minute winner through Jeremie Aliadiere's unstoppable free-kick. There was little in the way of goalmouth action in the early stages before Nantes took the lead in fortuitous circumstances, Veigneau being freed on the left by Birama Toure before sending over a cross-shot that ended up flying into the top corner past Lorient goalkeeper Fabien Audard. Nantes enjoyed their lead for 20 minutes before Lorient drew level through Aboubakar, who picked up a pass from Aliadiere inside the area before drilling a close-range effort past Remy Riou. The visitors came close to going ahead for a second time three minutes before the break but Veigneau's powerful 25-yard effort flew just wide. The second half saw Lorient on top and they made it 2-1 on the hour mark when former Arsenal striker Aliadiere thundered a 20-yard free-kick into the top corner of the net. Lorient had two chances to increase their lead but Riou did well to deny Raphael Guerreiro and Aliadiere, and those saves almost helped Nantes salvage a point right at the death only for substitute Adrien Trebel to see his 20-yard snapshot go inches over.
