Hosts dominate as De Graafschap slip to defeat

Marko Vejinovic starred for Heracles as they played out a commanding 2-0 home victory over De Graafschap in Eredivisie action on Friday evening. Vejinovic set up Glynor Plet for the opening goal in the 11th minute before missing two good chances of his own either side of half-time. Luis Pedro finally added the second for the home side in the final minute of the game to give them their second win of the season. Heracles dominated the match from the kick-off and they soon converted their early pressure when Plet found the top left-hand corner after being put through on goal by Vejinovic. The same player was centimetres away from adding a second in the 24th minute but his shot skimmed past the right post. De Graafschap goalkeeper Yves de Winter denied Plet four minutes later when he dived to his left and smothered his shot from the middle of the penalty area.

    Powerful

After the break, midfielder Vejinovic tested De Winter again, but his powerful shot from 18 yards out hit the left post. Rogier Meijer had the visitor's best chance of the match in the 66th minute when he struck a crisp right-footed shot towards the top corner. However, Heracles goalkeeper Remko Pasveer managed to parry the ball away for a corner kick, which eventually came to nothing. Willie Overtoom tested De Winter again with 20 minutes to go but the goalkeeper pushed his effort away. However, he was unable to deny Heracles in the final minute, when substitute Everton passed to Pedro, who struck home from 10 metres to give his side a well-deserved victory.
