Scottish Premiership: Hamilton ease to 3-0 win over Aberdeen

Two goals from Hamilton's French midfielder Tony Andreu eased the Accies to a 3-0 victory over Aberdeen and extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

A 90th-minute third goal at New Douglas Park, this time from Mikael Antoine-Curier, gave Hamilton a four-point cushion over second-placed Dundee United, who have a game in hand. 

Andreu’s first came in the 15th minute after he played a clever one-two with Dougie Imrie who did well to pull it back across the goal for a simple tap-in.

Aberdeen nearly scored a bizarre equaliser after a stinging strike from Andreu was blocked in the visitors' box.

The rebound shot straight through the middle of the park and through the Hamilton defence to find Adam Rooney sprinting through on Michael McGovern's goal. The Dons striker, however, could get no real power behind the ball and his attempt was easily saved.

Moments later, Rooney's strike partner David Goodwillie latched onto an incisive Johnny Hayes pass to find himself clear, but McGovern stood tall to deny the visitors with a fine save.

Ten minutes into the second half, Andreu was again on hand after Danny Redmond found space on the left and pulled it back deep into the box for the Frenchman to finish neatly into the corner.

Aberdeen had their chances to get back into the game but Accies keeper McGovern continued his strong form, denying the visitors with several good saves and blocks.  

Aberdeen should have got a goal back when Willo Flood's deep cross was headed back across the goalmouth by Niall McGinn, but Rooney failed to connect with a despairing diving header.

McGinn then went close with two almost identically situated free-kicks from 25 yards, bending the first just past the post and the second just over the bar.

But in the final minute, a sublime diagonal cross from the right from Ali Crawford was met with a sweet low volley by French-born Guadeloupe international Antoine-Curier, giving Academical their biggest win over Aberdeen since 1934.

Alex Neil's Hamilton have now gone more than 500 minutes without conceding a goal.
