Sevilla failed to get Unai Emery's league reign off to the perfect start as an error from goalkeeper Andres Palop gifted Getafe a 1-1 draw at the Alfonso Perez Coliseum. Jose Antonio Reyes put Sevilla in front with a neat finish shortly before half-time, but the lead lasted only three minutes as Palop got caught under Adrian Colunga's inswinging cross and allowed the ball to float over his head and into the net. Sevilla continued to have the better of the play after the break but Alvaro Negredo blasted over with their best chance. Emery's charges drew 0-0 with Real Zaragoza in his first game in charge in the Copa del Rey in midweek and their inability to convert their chances cost them dear again. Negredo was first to threaten on 15 minutes when he fired into the side-netting from a narrow angle, but he did much better seven minutes later when he outmuscled the two Getafe centre-backs and played in Jesus Navas for what looked like an easy finish only for the winger to scuff his shot. The opener arrived five minutes before the break as a nice turn and pass from Ivan Rakitic set Reyes free inside the box to slide home his third goal of the season. Getafe went in level at half-time, though, as Colunga's free-kick from the right was carried by the wind into the net beyond the deceived Palop, whose positioning was highly questionable. After the break Miguel Moya produced a wonderful save to prevent Juan Valera's miscued clearance ending up in his own goal before Negredo came close when he fired over after being played in by Rakitic. Moya made a final save two minutes from time to prevent Navas' corner dipping in at the near post after the ball again deviated in the wind.
