Fulham missed out on the chance to move into the Premier League's top six after being held to a goalless draw by a Southampton side being watched in the Craven Cottage stands by new manager Ivan Juric.
Considering the south-coast side had collected just one point on their travels all season, Juric will have been delighted with the disciplined and composed display from his players against one of the top flight's in-form teams.
In fact, the visitors largely frustrated Fulham all afternoon, reducing Marco Silva's side to a few long-range efforts, although they were grateful to have Aaron Ramsdale - wearing a special glove after his recent finger injury - back in goal as the England international was forced into one world-class reaction stop to preserve a point for Saints.

That moment came midway through the second period when substitute Adama Traore picked out Harry Wilson at the far post, only for Ramsdale to somehow keep out his close-range volley.
Other than that, Southampton - with Simon Rusk again taking temporary charge - were largely untroubled, although despite the hard-fought point they will be bottom of the table at Christmas, while Fulham move above Brighton and into ninth place.

Returning Ramsdale gives watching Juric hope of a great escape
Analysis by Sky Sports' Richard Morgan:
"Ivan Juric was only confirmed as Russell Martin's replacement as Southampton manager late on Saturday afternoon, but that did not stop the Croat from observing his new charges from the Craven Cottage stands and he will surely have liked what he saw.
"The Saints battled their way to a hard-earned and deserved goalless draw in west London, just their second top-flight point on the road this season after restricting an in-form Fulham side to an xG of only 1.04.
"All new managers try to build using a solid defensive platform and Juric will have seen enough from his perch high up at the Cottage to think he has the players at the back to give him just a chance of pulling off what would be one of the Premier League's great escape, with Southampton guaranteed to be bottom at Christmas - and we know what that usually means.
"And of particular importance to those plans will be Aaron Ramsdale, back in the Saints goal after missing the last five league games with a fractured finger and integral to his team earning a point with a breathtaking reaction stop to keep out Harry Wilson's close-range volley midway through the second half."
What the managers said...
Fulham boss Marco Silva:
"I have to say that it's a missed opportunity for us to climb in the table.
"In our last four results, they were going to have a bigger impact if today we took a step forward and won the game. We respect Southampton but these are the type of games we need to win at home and we didn't create enough chances in the game."
Interim Southampton boss Simon Rusk:
"Credit to the players, their endeavour and concentration levels were excellent, and hopefully it's a platform to go forward here.
"[I've had] a little bit of contact with Ivan, we had some conversations, we're pleased that the club made that appointment.
"We've had a bit of dialogue, over the next few weeks we'll see Ivan's influence and the affect that has on the team."
