Steven Pressley insisted Fleetwood's late rally deserved more after seeing his side hit the bar late on in a goalless draw with Doncaster.
Jimmy Ryan's 25-yard effort crashed off the bar with little more than 10 minutes to go as Pressley's side dropped back into the Sky Bet League One relegation places.
Lynden Gooch posed a constant threat for the visitors, but Chris Maxwell was in fine form for the Cod Army as the game petered out into a goalless draw that means Fleetwood move below Shrewsbury and into the bottom three.
However Pressley felt his players deserved more after recording a third successive game unbeaten.
The Fleetwood boss said: "In terms of our application and the desire of our players and our attempts to play the right type of football I think we were excellent. I'm really disappointed we didn't come away with three points.
"In the first half we were a little bit tentative, we didn't take the ball and play with purpose, get forward, break their lines.
"But second half we were much better and we had a few really good chances.
"Jimmy Ryan's hit the bar, Antoni Sarcevic has had a couple of really good chances. Devante Cole's had one at the back post late on.
"All in all, on reflection I think we deserved the points
"We've now played four games in 2016, we're unbeaten but we've drawn three and won one. Two of the three I believe we should have won.
"That's a disappointment but there's a real determination and spirit in the group.
"If we keep doing the right thing I'm sure we'll start winning games."
Pressley's opposite number Darren Ferguson made it clear his side needed to put on a better show.
"It's nowhere near good enough, nowhere near," said the Rovers boss. "I'll be brutally honest, as I always am.
"We weren't good enough on the ball, it's as simple as that.
"It was frustrating, it was annoying but our standards have slipped, especially on the ball.
"We're normally very good, we weren't good enough. It's not down to the conditions or anything.
"In the early part we were very good, but we can't drop from the standards we set. Especially on the ball I think it was the worst away performance we've given.
"If you don't play well and not get beaten, that's a positive.
"We've got a clean sheet but we've got to be better than that."
