Crewe 2-0 Cambridge: Shaun Miller's solo effort seals three points for Railwaymen
Tuesday 27 November 2018 23:29, UK
Shaun Miller sealed Crewe's 2-0 win over Cambridge with a stunning solo finish.
The striker left several defenders in his wake as he twisted and turned in the box before firing home in the 86th minute after Callum Ainley had punished a howler from Jevani Brown in the first half.
Defences were on top early on at Gresty Road and it took 25 minutes for the first threat on goal when George Maris tested Crewe keeper Ben Garratt with a low drive from the edge of the box.
Cambridge enjoyed plenty of the ball but carried little threat and found themselves trailing after Brown's dreadful error, with the winger's attempted clearance falling into the lap of Ainley who prodded the ball into the corner of the net.
After the restart Ainley fancied his chances of adding to his tally with a dipping drive, but Us keeper David Forde pushed the effort around the post.

But Forde was stranded by James Jones' free-kick and Cambridge were fortunate when Charlie Kirk's far-post header rebounded off the upright.
