Coventry 3-2 Crewe: Jim O'Brien strikes late for hosts
Wednesday 19 August 2015 01:12, UK
Jim O'Brien struck late on to give Coventry a 3-2 League One victory over Crewe at the Ricoh Arena.
The home side looked as if they had thrown the chance of victory away when they allowed Crewe to twice come back from behind, but O'Brien's 83rd minute goal kept them top of the table.
John Fleck put the home side in front in the 14th minute and it looked like being the first of many as they piled on the chances with young James Maddison pulling the strings in midfield.
Adam Armstrong, O'Brien, Romain Vincelot and Maddison all had chances but, vitally, could not make them count so when Bradden Inman managed only Crewe's second effort on goal it provided an equaliser in the 31st minute.
Coventry looked to have re-established their dominance six minutes after the restart when Armstrong's persistence paid off and he finished from close range.

The lead lasted less than two minutes as Marcus Haber brought the ball down well to score virtually unchallenged with Coventry still celebrating.
But with time running down O'Brien hammered home a shot from 22 yards to make it three wins out of three for Coventry.
