Hull secure comfortable victory over League Two opposition

Hull City cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Chesterfield at Saltergate. The Tigers were rarely troubled by their League Two opponents and claimed the comprehensive win thanks to goals from Geovanni, Dean Windass and Caleb Folan. Phil Brown used the contest to fully utilise his squad, using 22 players throughout the course of the 90 minutes. It took half an hour for the visitors to make the breakthrough, with Brazilian midfielder Geovanni showing a cool head to apply a neat finish to Craig Fagan's through-ball.

Pinpoint

Seven minutes later the Tigers doubled their lead, Windass tapping into an empty net following good work down the right by Peter Halmosi. The continuous substitutions during the second period did little to help the flow of the game but Hull wrapped up the win nine minutes from time. Richard Garcia broke free down the left flank before providing a pinpoint cross for Folan to head home. The home side did mount a late rally but were unable to find a goal which would have been little more than a consolation.
