Celta Vigo 2-1 Las Palmas: Late Pedro Pablo Hernandez goal wins La Liga clash
Monday 5 March 2018 22:56, UK
Pedro Pablo Hernandez fired a late winner as Celta Vigo came from behind to clinch a 2-1 home victory against La Liga strugglers Las Palmas.
Chile international Hernandez struck in the 89th minute after Celta defender Jonny had cancelled out Erik Exposito's second-half opener for Las Palmas.
Exposito, who had made just one substitute appearance this season and in just his second league start, broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute when he fired home a low angled drive from inside the penalty area.
Matias Aguirregaray spurned a golden chance to double the visitors' lead and they were made to pay two minutes later when Jonny side-footed home a rebound.
Pione Sisto's goalbound shot was brilliantly saved by Las Palmas goalkeeper Leandro Chichizola in the 82nd minute.
But Hernandez fired a late winner from inside the area after taking a pass from Iago Aspas to lift Celta up two places to ninth. Las Palmas remain third from bottom.
