Cambridge and AFC Wimbledon played out a 0-0 draw at the Abbey Stadium after both sides missed second-half penalties.
Adebayo Akinfenwa missed the Dons' spot-kick moments after half time when he was denied by Chris Dunn. Josh Coulson fouled Adebayo Azeez but the low spot kick was well saved to Dunn's left. The home side were awarded their own penalty in the 59th minute when Ryan Donaldson's shot was handled by Sammy Moore, but James Shea repelled Robbie Simpson's powerful effort with a tremendous save. Cambridge substitute Sullay Kaikai stabbed wide from close range eight minutes from time when Shea spilled Greg Taylor's cross. In the first half Coulson was denied by a superb Shea tip-over following a looping header that was bound for the top corner, while Liam Hughes saw his effort blocked on the line by Dave Winfield on the stroke of half time. Wimbledon had chances of their own in the first half, with Akinfenwa nodding wide from Jake Reeves' corner and Reeves himself seeing an effort charged down by Hughes.
