Bury 1-0 Port Vale: The Shakers are on the move
Saturday 19 September 2015 21:10, UK
Newly-promoted Bury are up to sixth in Sky Bet League One after claiming a 1-0 home win against Port Vale.
The Shakers just about had the better of a hard-fought contest before captain Nathan Cameron scored with a 78th-minute header to secure their third straight win.
Bury made a lively start after two impressive wins on the road, with Danny Mayor and Jacob Mellis seeing 20-yard shots parried by Vale keeper Jak Alnwick in quick succession.
Mellis fired narrowly over from similar range before seeing Alnwick rush out to block his shot after playing a one-two with Tom Soares.
Vale gradually came into it and the closest they went in the first half was when Uche Ikpeazu turned Peter Clarke, only for keeper Rob Lainton to block his close-range effort.

The visitors started the second half strongly but without creating any clear-cut chances, with Ikpeazu and Carl Dickinson both off target.
Bury shored things up and began to threaten again themselves, with Joe Riley's shot blocked.
A Soares strike was then deflected wide for a corner, which was delivered by Chris Hussey, and Alnwick was unable to keep out centre-half Cameron's downward header.
