Brentford face an FA Cup replay with Aldershot after failing to take advantage of a string of chances at Griffin Park.
The Bees even had to fight back from a goal down after Wade Small had given the visitors the lead after 13 minutes when he turned on a sixpence from Luke Guttridge's through ball to drill an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner. Brentford equalised seven minutes later when Stephen Wright's looping through ball found Charlie MacDonald, who made no mistake with a close-range header. Robbie Simpson almost put the hosts ahead two minutes later, but his 25-yard strike cannoned to safety off the outside of the post. After the break Pim Balkestein headed over from close range before also seeing an effort from outside the box fizz narrowly over. But as Brentford failed to wrap the game up Aldershot grew in confidence and finished the stronger.
