Two late Notts County goals ended Bournemouth's hopes of a third win on the spin as the Magpies claimed a 3-3 draw.
With Saturday's League One encounter seemingly won by three first-half Cherries goals, Craig Westcarr and sub Kevin Smith struck in stoppage time to leave Bournemouth fans speechless. A brace from Josh McQuoid put the home side into an early lead. He flicked in the opener after three minutes after strike partner Michael Symes had headed on Shaun Cooper's long ball. The Northern Irishman doubled their advantage in the 25th minute, racing on to another route-one ball, this time from keeper Shwan Jalal, and lobbing over the advancing Stuart Nelson. It looked like game over at Dean Court when, in the 28th minute, Anton Robinson began and finished a Cherries counter-attack. But the Magpies, who were promoted as champions along with the Cherries from League Two last term, came back two minutes later through Ben Burgess, whose clever shot went in off the post. The second half was light on goalmouth action until the game entered injury time. Craig Westcarr thumped the ball home in the first minute time added on, before Smith found space in the box and slid the ball beyond Jalal.
