Pitman brace sees off Hereford
Brett Pitman scored twice as Bournemouth closed in on automatic promotion from League Two with a 2-1 win over Hereford.
Pitman took his tally for the season to 25 with a goal in each half.
Bournemouth went ahead in the 32nd minute when Hereford left-back Ryan Valentine brought down Danny Hollands. Pitman stepped up to score with the spot-kick and might have added two more but for outstanding saves from Adam Bartlett.
Hereford striker Leon Constantine struck the Bournemouth post in first-half stoppage-time but the rest of the match was dominated by the home side.
They had to wait until the 77th minute before grabbing their second goal, Pitman seizing on a defensive mistake by Richard Rose to run clear and score.
Bournemouth were coasting to victory but with the final kick of the match, Marc Pugh got away to prod a shot past onrushing goalkeeper Shwan Jalal.
