Graeme Shinnie's second goal of the season proved enough to book Aberdeen's ticket for a Scottish Cup semi-final against Hibernian at the expense of a toothless Partick Thistle side at Pittodrie.
The former Inverness man worked some space on the edge of the box two minutes before half-time and found the bottom corner with a crisp left-foot strike beyond the outstretched arm of Tomas Cerny.
Aberdeen were the dominant force throughout and Adam Rooney and Anthony O'Connor went on to hit the woodwork as Thistle's search for an equaliser grew increasingly desperate.
Abdul Osman spurned a glorious chance to snatch a replay in added time but, having risen highest at the far post, he planted his header over the bar from five yards. The visitors' miserable afternoon was compounded by Danny Devine's dismissal moments later for a second yellow.
A combination of Cerny's good work and the hosts' profligacy had kept the score down in the opening half and Jags boss Archibald shuffled his pack after the break as substitute Steven Lawless took the place of Adam Barton and Ade Azeez replaced Chris Erskine.
But Aberdeen continued in the ascendancy, Rooney hitting the goalframe while Cerny was forced to claw away Andrew Consideine's stabbed volley before substitute O'Connor clipped the crossbar with a header.
In stoppage-time, Thistle conjured up their first and only chance when Osman sent a back-post header over the crossbar from Callum Booth's free-kick and their afternoon ended on a low note when Devine was sent off for a second bookable offence for bringing down substitute Ryan Christie.
The result completed a clean sheet of home victories in this weekend's quarter-finals, Celtic having joined Rangers and holders Hibernian in the hat with a come-from-behind 4-1 win over St Mirren earlier.
