Charlie Tipple relished the heavy ground at Haydock last time and similar conditions here mean he gets the vote ahead of Equuleus Pictor, Osteopathic Remedy, Northern Dare and Vesuvio. The Tim Easterby-trained selection sees out further than the six furlongs on offer here and that served him well in the Haydock quagmire. Even taking into account that cut in the ground exaggerates winning margins, he was good value for the four lengths he hand in hand that day and looks well capable of defying a 6lb penalty with his yard still in superb form. Equuleus Pictor took a 6f 3-y-o handicap at Ayr last week with some cut in the ground. However the bare form of that effort does not weigh up to the selection's, and he is also unproven on bottomless ground so with a 6lb penalty we will oppose. Osteopathic Remedy will be at home on this surface and showed up well when dropped to this class at Thirsk last time. He should be thereabouts. Meanwhile Northern Dare has won over this trip but struggled under his penalty last time and a place may be his best hope, and heavy ground Beverley winner Vesuvio will need to improve to get involved this time around. An interesting race then, and Charlie Tipple is the one for us.
