    Verdict

York nurseries are notoriously trappy and this looks no different, especially with TAHOO, Merry Banter and Vona renewing rivalry after finishing second, third and fourth here earlier this month in a similar contest. Tahoo was comfortably clear of the other two then but the handicapper has done his work to bring the trio far closer now. However, Karl Burke has responded by using stable apprentice, the capable Jordan Vaughan, to take 5lb off the back of his charge who is taken to confirm placings. Masham Star is interesting as he drops to the minimum trip for the first time, having been campaigned over 7f when last seen at the Royal meeting. It's an intriguing move and he is respected off topweight, whilst Equimou must be shortlisted on the back of an impressive success on the all-weather at Chelmsford on just her second start.
