Mediterranean was the last three-year-old to land this back in 2001. He overcame a high draw to win for Aidan O'Brien and Fields Of Athenry attempts the same feat. Already a Group 3 winner, he may prove a cut above these though will do well to take up his usual prominent position exiting stall 22. Chester Cup runner-up Quick Jack is another Irish challenger with decent claims and so is Clondaw Warrior, partnered by Frankie Dettori today having beaten Fun Mac and Elishpour at Ascot in June. Ajman Bridge, Astronereus, Watersmeet and Arab Dawn are closely matched on this season's form and Havana Beat ran well over track and trip in the Yorkshire Cup back in May. Notarised beat a couple of these at Haydock last month including Excellent Result but a sporting selection goes to the latter's stablemate WADI AL HATTAWI. Progressive last year until something went amiss in this race, he made a winning comeback over 1m4f here in July. Saeed Bin Suroor's five-year-old remains unexposed and may well be capable of better still.
