Verdict

FREE WIND won the Lancashire Oaks at Haydock on her only outing of last season. She beat a subsequent Group 1 winner on that occasion, with Stay Alert well behind, and the Gosdens’ mare looks the one to side with on her return to action. Aristia landed a soft Group 1 contest at Deauville in August having finished second in this earlier to a winner from the Haggas yard who is represented by Sea Silk Road, runner-up in last year’s Ribblesdale at Ascot. The German Oaks winner Toskana Belle was a progressive filly last season and has joined Roger Varian but the remainder have plenty to find on these terms.
