Tabaret can return to form ahead of Colorus, with Desert Realm and Ajigolo just two more with claims. Having finished third to Titus Alone in the Windsor Castle Stakes here, it was no surprise when Tabaret duly opened his account at Beverley next time. Richard Whitaker's juvenile made all to win easily, after which he was sent to Goodwood to tackle the Molecomb Stakes in which he was found out by the combination of stronger opposition and softer ground. He will have learnt from that experience though, and connections remain convinced that he is capable of landing a pattern race. This could be his day then with conditions in his favour, and he gets the vote over Colorus. The latter was entered for the Gimcrack after taking his maiden at Southwell with consummate ease, but the decision to go for this shorter race is probably the right one at this stage, and with Kieren Fallon booked to ride, he can go close. Desert Realm has plenty of experience to count on and was far from disgraced in the July Stakes at Newmarket. He is not certain to be suited by this drop back in trip though and is passed over. Ajigolo, fourth in the Norfolk Stakes here, has since won at Doncaster and will like the trip and ground. He too can help make this an interesting contest in which we take Tabaret to come out on top.
