      Verdict

      ESCOBAR gave notice of a big run today when runner-up in a tougher race than this at Sandown last week. A bold bid is expected having been narrowly beaten off a higher mark at Ascot last season. Rise Hall won over the extended mile at Nottingham in April before running well again over a longer trip at Newmarket on his return from a break and is preferred to Crownthorpe, who was progressing well until stumbling and unseating at Newcastle. Masham Star looks to be treading water off his current mark while Baraweez could only manage sixth off a higher mark in last year’s renewal. Just Hiss scored over track and trip last autumn and makes more appeal than Dark Jedi.
