The first of a series of massively competitive handicaps on the card, with Godolphin double-handed courtesy of Strong Chemistry and MUSADDAS. The latter is the choice after posting a career-best effort on reappearance in mid-May at Newmarket when reeling in Jacob Black with a degree of comfort. The form reads well and he still appeals as feasibly treated off a career-high mark of 95. It's anyone's guess how much more improvement David O'Meara is going to eke out of Birdman who is no less than 29lb higher then when scoring for the team in April at Thirsk. He cannot be discounted, that's for sure. Plenty of others have decent claims but keep a special eye on Basateen. He hasn't been seen since last August as a juvenile when a cracking third in the Group 2 Acomb Stakes behind this year's Jersey Stakes winner, Dutch Connection. He's up against his elders on this reappearance but deserves close attention.
