PEINTRE D'ARGENT was impressive when scoring from a 10lbs lower mark last time and he is taken to follow-up, while Patavium and Hel's Angel look best of the rest. The last-named was a Catterick scorer last time out over this trip, and all three of her career successes have come on good or faster ground. She should go well if conditions stay sound, but any rain would hinder her and she is on a high enough mark. Patavium gained reward for his consistency when landing a 12f Ripon handicap recently and he appears to go on any ground, so from a 7lb higher mark he has to be taken seriously. Fellow Ripon scorer Northern Acres has a chance of defying a 6lb rise and the ground was softer than described that day, so rain wouldn't be a problem, though he has to prove his stamina for this trip. Tropical Bachelor is yet another Ripon winner in this field, romping home over this trip there last week in a selling handicap, and he is not ruled out, but preference is for Peintre D'Argent. William Knight's filly sees out this trip well as she did so when an easy winner last time at Lingfield. Although untried with any cut in the ground, her sire handled it well, and she herself goes in faster conditions, so there is plenty of hope she can handle anything thrown at her in this race and win it.
