A surprisingly modest contest and a poor turn out for the prize-money on offer. However, the field are quite closely matched on the official figures for the race so tactics will no doubt play a huge part; and Time Crystal is taken to continue on her upward curve. The Ed Dunlop-trained Clever Cloggs is equally as well treated by the stipulations for the race and is preferred over Crathorne to chase the selection home - although Dileer is not without a chance of the final place for the money if he can banish the memory of three poor efforts since winning a weak maiden at Ayr in May. This directly contrasts the profile of Time Crystal, who was badly in need of the run on her debut before failing to pick up off a moderate pace in a fillies only heat here in the summer. The daughter of Sadler's Wells banished the memory of that performance when winning on Town Moor last time out - giving Henry Cecil some welcome respite from his critics. Willie Supple is an excellent judge of pace and, with the suspicion that this will be run at a crawl in the early stages, he may just find the race unfolding to suit Time Crystal.
