Very few of those with previous form in nurseries make much appeal and a chance is taken with Aire de Mougins who is preferred to Diamonds And Dust and Darko Karim. The selection showed improved form for the step up to seven furlongs at Redcar last time and on a faster surface today is expected to show further improvement. Pat Haslam's gelding looks well treated for his first start in this grade and, with the stable's juveniles normally improving with racing he looks worth a small investment in a difficult opener. The Mark Tompkins-trained Diamonds And Dust has shown a similar level of form in all three starts and is entitled to be thereabouts but the handicapper may have his measure and of more interest may be David Loder's Darko Karim. The son of Groom Dancer was never travelling at Windsor last time but is probably better than he has shown so far and should be suited by today's longer trip. Enforcer showed his best form on a softer surface at Lingfield last time and may not be completely at ease on the faster ground here. Top weight Monsieur Mirasol was well held off today's mark at Beverley last time and now steps up in distance but is speedily bred and not certain to appreciate the longer trip. Catterick selling winner Dartanian struggled in a nursery at Chester last time and of more interest may be Apetite, who has a 5lb penalty for the seller he won at Ripon last time. Aire de Mougins is interesting on his debut in this grade though and he gets the vote.
