In depth

Verdict

Most of these are fully exposed sprinters, and so the vote goes to Smart Predator, who won here last time out and has won off higher marks than this, with Fruit Of Glory and Royal Beacon to chase him home. The selection relishes a fast-run six furlongs and can be ridden to make all, as he did last time, or from off the pace. With tactics no problem, his form red hot and a liking for the course, he is the choice here. Fruit Of Glory is also in fine fettle, having completed a hat-trick of Newmarket wins in August, but going up 12lbs in the process. The form of her latest win is solid enough but the extra weight will probably just tell here. Of the remainder, top weight Royal Beacon is a course and distance scorer, who has been contesting better class races than this for much of his career to date. Some good efforts in defeat this season have meant that the handicapper has been reluctant to let him slip down the weights and although he should again go well, he will find it a tough one to win. Nevertheless he can chase home the other two, but the selection remains Smart Predator.
