      Verdict

      Given the trainer's record at the track it may be prudent to side with Christine Dunnett's DANZOE in this handicap, while Il Forno and Watch Chain are others considered in a potentially trappy affair. The selection showed some decent pace when tried over 6f here last time, never finding enough to challenge the winner in the final furlong. Therefore, this drop back to the minimum trip could work out as a plus, and with some forceful tactics from his pilot he may be able to hang on. Il Forno was a Lingfield Polytrack winner over 6f in January and races today from 1lb lower. He remains competitive, as evidenced by his Haydock effort last time, and with Ryan Moore up he is respected, though feared is probably too strong-an-expression. Watch Chain was badly out of form when last seen but he has the ability to get involved here if he has wintered well and a market check is advised. Young Simon has been dropped 1lb since his last run here, but that was his handicap debut and he may fare better now. Keep an eye on the market for a guide where Southwark Newshank is concerned, but we prefer stablemate Danzoe.
