In depth

Verdict

With little to recommend the likes of Alfie Bet, Moscow Player, Just Dan and One More Cent, this should lie between the other three runners with MR SYNTAX looking the one to beat. Tim Fitzgerald's gelding has been placed in each of his seven starts so far, finding just one too good in each of his last three starts, and the son of King's Theatre can open his account. James Lambe's runners always warrant respect and his representative, Kingsmoss, is no exception but the Irish point-to-point winner needs to improve on the form shown over hurdles in Ireland to get involved at the business end of the race. Martin Todhunter's Cailin Na Ri has performed creditably in better races than this during the summer and has solid claims on his first outing since August but Mr Syntax has plenty in hand on official BHA ratings and can gain a deserved first success.
