        Verdict

        Mahican won by nine lengths on soft ground at Chester on Saturday but didn't beat much and will have to defy a penalty to complete his hat-trick. Tinghir is 6lb higher than when scoring on the Polytrack two weeks ago while Tuscania may just be too high in the weights now and was behind Noble Gift at Goodwood. But there should be more to come from ALTHAROOS and the handicapper hasn't overreacted to his narrow victory at Thirsk. Sir Michael Stoute's gelding was value for more than the margin of victory as he was given plenty to do and had to be switched inside the final furlong. Snow Trooper and Daghash have an absence to overcome.
