New Star is a speculative pick on this occasion to see off Coyote Creek and Shogun Prince. Mark Brisbourne's charge is likely to be a decent price here but the Green Desert gelding ran in a decent handicap at Doncaster at the back end of the season with some credit and with proven form on the surface, he makes more appeal than many of his apparent rivals. Coyote Creek has had plenty of chances and is very much the archetypal frustrating maiden. He probably has a race within his compass but followers have had an expensive time in finding out. Shogun Prince is yet to win in 10 attempts on the turf. That said, he was well fancied when obliging at Lingfield on the polytrack and did not disappoint those that got involved with the gamble. Marvo ran well on two juvenile starts but can be forgiven for needing this run after almost 20 months off. Dakiyah ran well at moderate levels in France but probably needs to come down a few pounds before he'll be going close in this country. Spirit Of The Mist bolted from the boxes when tried under first time eyeshields. The headgear is off today. New Star isn't the most obvious pick on the book but we are prepared to be rewarded at a decent price.
