Tender The Great seemed to show improved form when chasing home Black Beauty at Beverley last time but the combination of a 3lb higher mark and a faster surface makes this more difficult and a better bet looks to be Whistleupthewind, who is preferred to Ravish. The last mentioned has had the three runs necessary for a handicap mark and the Willie Haggas-trained filly has to be respected on her debut in this grade for a yard that has their runners in good form at present. Al Rayanah could probably do with some more help from the handicapper, while Wendals represents a trainer that does well with his fillies and could do better now being sent handicapping. Imperial Lucky is more exposed than most of these but has at least won a couple of races, while Lambency is hard to recommend on recent evidence but the yard of James Given is beginning to hit form now. The vote though goes to Whistleupthewind, who showed improved form under similar conditions at Bath last time and a reproduction of that effort may well suffice.
