wore hood to post, steadied start, raced keenly disputing 2nd, outright 2nd over 2f out, ridden and every chance over 1f out, stayed on inside final furlong, went 2nd final strides, no chance with winner
wore hood to post, held up 5th, good headway far side of group over 2f out, led final 150 yards, ran on well
led, ridden and strongly pressed over 1f out, headed and no extra final 150 yards, lost 2nd final strides
disputing close 2nd until ridden over 2f out, soon beaten
This rates a tricky little heat, especially with Emperor Spirit, who finished mid-division in the Britannia at Royal Ascot after going off very fast, dropping back to 6f from a mile. He hasn't tackled the trip before and may well outclass these rivals, but the choice is NOORBAN. The O'Meara filly is a sprinter pure and simple and is taken to make that experience tell here. A consistent performer, she can confirm the form of her York running with Mejthaam despite being 3lb worth off, although the latter is definitely a danger and a likely improver, whilst Desert Gulf and Alphonse Karr appear to need to improve on recent efforts against in-form rivals.
