Verdict
Alta Petens can beat the newcomer Pacific Star, with Fair Along another one to consider. Alta Petens was sent off as favourite on her Pontefract debut but only got going when it was all over. The move up to six furlongs should help her cause and she gets the vote. The fact that Michael Bell's filly was well supported in the ring shows that she has ability and she can put that initial experience to good use. Pacific Star holds a couple of entries in decent races this summer and the son of Tagula is also one for the short-list. The German-bred Fair Along will improve when stepped up in distance, but the rest make no great appeal and for the winner we return to Alta Petens.
