In depth

Verdict

The Run for the Roses this ain't! But something has to win; so Legerwood, who has at least shown a willing attitude of late, gets the nomination ahead of Adam Eterno and Cheeky Try. The last named has a nice enough pedigree to merit a second look in the betting. But he showed very little in three starts for Dermot Weld in Ireland and, having finished down the field on his British debut, he has bit to prove. Adam Eterno has gone closer on a number of occasions and has the ability to figure at this level. Still he has a bit to find with the selection and is the likeliest candidate to play second fiddle. Legerwood sets the standard on the BHA ratings and is respected accordingly. He has held his own in stronger claimers than this and is likely to be hard to beat.
