    Verdict

The less said the better about this absolutely dire contest, which can probably be taken by River Of Diamonds, with Hat Trick Man and possibly Zaffeu to follow him home. The selection is very much a tentative one in a race where having a bet must mean there is little else in your life. Rae Guest's gelding is not guaranteed to be the best of a bad bunch, but he has at least done okay on ground with cut in it so far, and despite being thrashed himself he beat six others home at Brighton last time. The trip is a worry, but not the only one, and we will chance him here. Hat Trick Man is rated 10lb superior to the selection and goes off level weights, but he is no good thing judged on his racecourse form so far and he would probably prefer 10 furlongs. Nevertheless he will probably act on soft being by Daylami and has a squeak. Of the remainder Zaffeu has at least won over a similar trip to this which is some form of recommendation but is woefully out of form at present. If the softer ground helps him return to anything like his best then he would be involved, but in a shocking race we will take the plunge on River Of Diamonds.
