Verdict

Lincoln Place has been a progressive performer in recent months but the handicapper may have his measure now and, while Ashley Muck is gradually slipping to an attractive mark, slight preference is for Nosam. Richard Guest's gelding is difficult to catch right but off just a 2lb higher mark than when winning over this trip at Wetherby at the end of February is worth chancing in a trappy heat. Ashley Muck is racing off his lowest mark for more than two years and has to be respected but a doubt remains concerning the form of Martin Pipe's horses and a bigger threat may be Lincoln Place, who has a progressive profile. However, the handicapper has taken note and raised the eight-year-old a further 5lbs since finding Pounsley Mill too good at Fontwell last month. The Venetia Williams-trained Superb Leader seems held on running that day, while Halfdecent may be flattered by his proximity to Stanmore in a weak race at Southwell last time.
