Quarrymount can make experience count here, with Enlightenment, Secretary General, Celticello and Nudge And Nurdle all worth a mention at least. Quarrymount was a dual winner on the Flat for Sir Mark Prescott two years ago, but has failed to deliver so far since joining Jim Old. Mind you, he has been quite highly tried at the likes of Cheltenham, Sandown and Newbury in the past, and after three attempts over fences, was put back over timber here on his latest start in August, finishing a three-length second to Cash On. There may well be some improvers against him in this line-up, but even so, his past form makes him the one to beat. Enlightenment looked a stayer in the making when trained in Ireland and is best watched over this shorter trip, and a bigger danger may be the Flat pair Secretary General and Celticello. The latter won twice for Michael Jarvis last year but has gone off the boil, while Secretary General has been a shadow of his former self on the level, but may be revitalised by this switch. Nudge And Nurdle is chase-bred so is one for the future, and this really does represent a sound opportunity for Quarrymount.
