        Verdict

        Hephaestus has form on the sand and has slipped to an attractive mark so Mick Channon's gelding gets the vote to land his first race since making a winning debut and is preferred to Queensgate and La Quinta. The last mentioned is less exposed than most of these and hails from the in-form yard of Brian Meehan so has to be respected but she may be a shade high in the weights. Tom Dascombe's Ask Don't Tell was not beaten far over this trip at Wolverhampton in a seller last time and is clearly better over the minimum than over six furlongs, while Early Promise is becoming frustrating. Queensgate is consistent and should be thereabouts again but a safer bet looks to be Hephaestus, who showed signs of a return to form last time and has slipped to a fair mark.
