We open with a small field maiden where after a decent first outing in a warm looking contest BASLE has the call at the expense of Erebus and new-comer Little Weed. After going down by just a nose on his debut, the pick was slightly unlucky not to get up that day. He finished ahead of a couple of subsequent winners, giving the form a solid feel, and he should improve for the outing. Erebus ran an encouraging debut too when half-way down a big field at Windsor. He was off to a slow start but there was a lot to like about the way he finished and he should show us more. Little weed has a mixed pedigree as far as trip is concerned but his dam ran well over sprint distances and his bloodline also includes a Group winner so the market might be our best guide to his chances first time out. Valmina will have to show a lot more than in two starts so far while Future Regime hasn't progressed in a couple of efforts and is overlooked this time for BASLE, who is a confident pick.
