Ballare gets the nod over Welsh Whisper, Spy Gun and Lenwade in an open affair. Ballare gave trainer Peter Makin his first success of 2006 when scoring over the course-and-distance just two days ago and turns out quickly in a bid to prove that his 33-1 win was no fluke. The son of Barathea had shown a glimmer of ability when campaigned in Jersey last year, and it may well be that he had just taken time to settle in. He has a larger field to contend with here but can prove up to the task. Welsh Whisper did not run too badly when fourth behind Wanna Shout on Monday and may be there or thereabouts again, while Spy Gun made a bold bid to try and make all here in February and has the ability to take a hand. Lenwade finally got her head in front in a similar race to this at Brighton in September, but is not one to rely on, while the market will be a guide to the rest. Ballare may have a bit more scope than the rest and can add to his recent victory.
