TOOLAIN showed his inexperience to unseat Frankie Dettori on debut at Sandown but was running well in the race prior to this and is our pick today whilst Rutterkin has looked progressive and improved with his two starts and there may be more to come from Merjaan. The Michael Jarvis trained juvenile had every chance approaching the finish last time but cocked his jaw and hung so badly that he unseated his rider. Therefore a note of caution is advised but we forgive his inexperience and a more genuine run can be expected here. Rutterkin could be the biggest danger to our selection as he started last time out at Newmarket as favourite but could only manage third. However this was a considerable step forward from debut and if showing the same sort of natural development could be in with a chance here. Clive Brittain has an excellent 37% strike rate with juveniles over the past five seasons at this course. Merjaan looks the alternative in this race and should come on for a relatively uninspiring first run. Our pick is Toolain to give a better account and win.
