A very average maiden race in which INFLAMMABLE is given one final chance to open her account in preference to King Red and Spring Fashion. The selection ran okay when third at Southwell during the week and with today's step up in trip to suit Sir Mark Prescott's filly she can hopefully gain a first success at the seventh time of asking. The daughter of Montjeu ran well in three maidens before making her handicap debut and, typically for one from this yard, was sent off a well-backed favourite. She disappointed back in fourth that day and followed it with a well-beaten fourth at Kempton before returning to something like her best form last time over a couple of furlongs less. With today's step back up in trip hopefully to suit Seb Sanders' mount can finally stick her head in front - if she doesn't here then she may never. King Red looks a likely danger on paper having stayed-on for fourth at Kempton last time. Today's longer trip should suit and Richard Kingscote's mount at least has winning form in the book in the shape of a National Hunt Flat race back in February. Tom Dascombe's five-year-old remains unexposed on the level and can improve past a host of exposed sorts, as can Spring Fashion representing Marco Botti. This one steps up markedly in trip after having been readily outpaced over 1m1f here last time. As a three-year-old filly she remains open to more improvement than most and today's trip should be much more to her liking, whilst the 3lb claim of Andrea Atzeni can also count for something in such a poor affair. It is hard to seriously make a case for much else in this race but should the likely favourite disappoint once more perhaps Pure Crystal can take a hand in the finish. This relatively exposed three-year-old holds the second best official rating with a mark of 51 and whilst that wouldn't be enough to win most maiden's this one is particularly weak and the horse does at least see out the trip well having raced over further. The filly will also arrive here fit having taken in a novice's handicap chase last time out and with a more convincing profile than most in the race she will doubtless attract the attentions of some punters. A race that shouldn't live long in the memory but something has to win and we'll take Inflammable to do just that.
