In depth
Verdict
In the second of the maidens, Daytona is selected ahead of Desert Master and Spanish Needle. A 360,000 euros purchase, Daytona showed plenty of promise when second over a furlong further on his Lingfield debut and he looks to be a leading player today. Others to consider are Desert Master, who has shown promise on each start, and Rann Na Cille, who may have been beaten at odds on last time but she ran into an improved performer there, one that has won again since. Finally, Ainama showed promise on his Irish debut and could have better to offer this season, and the interesting newcomer is the Paul Webber-trained, 57,000 guineas purchase, Spanish Needle. Overall, though, the selection, once again, is Daytona.
