      Verdict

      It's been a while since Evident Pride last won, but he ran well in a claimer recently and is not easily dismissed back in handicap company. However, LAYLA'S DANCER makes more appeal. A winner at Lingfield last month, Tony Carroll's charge wasn't disgraced when third to the progressive Sweet Origin here last time and meets nothing of that calibre today. Accumulate went close over C&D last week but this is tougher and Red Kestrel makes more appeal on the evidence of his best form at this track. William Van Gogh and Roose Blox are both out of sorts and hard to fancy.
