In depth

Verdict

An interesting division of this maiden can go to KARATE. Mark Johnston's Exceed And Excel colt is bred to show speed at this age and he would not have been ideally suited by the soft ground at Haydock on his debut. He should be much better for that run and also a faster surface and is taken to score. Looksmart has had a few chances and has a respectable CV in the context of this race, earning a mark of 76 before being reassessed to 72 for today. However, she is clearly vulnerable and a better proposition looks to be Valerius Maximus, who went well over this trip at Windsor on debut and returns to it now after continuing to show ability in defeat over 5f. Snow Ridge is bred to show speed over this trip and is perhaps the more interesting of the two Sir Mark Prescott runners in either of these divisions.
